Making Faux Leather Hair Bows With The Cricut

Oh my gosh you guys, have you tried making faux leather hair bows with the Cricut? I feel a new addiction coming on. They are so fun to make and so pretty when completed. These will be so fun for the holidays for young and old. You can also sell them to earn a little extra Christmas cash.

I bought some really fun faux leather from Amazon, which I will link below. I bought the files from Design Bundles, which I will also link below.

Project Instructions

Here’s a process video to go along with this tutorial.

Use Cricut Strong Grip Transfer Tape to secure the Glitter Faux Leather in place. It will help keep the bits of glitter off the mat during cutting.

Here you can see the Strong Grip Transfer Tape under the Glitter Faux Leather.

Cover edges with painters tape. Cut using the Fine Point Blade. Use the Faux Leather (Paper Thin) setting. I use the “More” setting for this. In my experience I have had to cut the faux leather more than once. To do this, do NOT unload your mat. Check after each cut to make sure the faux leather is cut all the way through.

Here’s what the Transfer Tape looks like after cutting out the bows and removing the excess Glitter Faux Leather. All that glitter on the Transfer Tape would have been all over your mat.

For the pink bow place faux leather face down on a Cricut Strong Grip Mat, without using the Strong Grip Transfer Tape. Place painters tape around the edges to secure it. Then cut your bows out using the same settings as mentioned above.

With instructions like these, I could make something like this even though I have not made anything like this before.
Thank you for the great post.
