I’ve started decorating 20 oz. (you can do any size) tumblers with glitter and vinyl to sell in my Etsy and Facebook stores. I want to share this process with you so you can see how fun it is and maybe sell a few while you are at it.
You can play around with fonts in Cricut Design Space until you find one you like. I used the DTC Peach Cakes font for this tumbler.

Making The Glitter Tumblers
Here is a link to the instructional video.
Start out by taping three rolls of Electrical Tape together to get the right height to mark the tumbler. Tape a dry erase marker to the top of of the electrical tape rolls.
Use the dry erase marker to draw a circle around the tumbler by twirling the cup in a circle with the marker touching the tumbler.
Then you are going to put a piece of electrical tape around the tumbler right above the line you’ve drawn. (I used Painters Tape for this picture.)
Using a sponge brush cover the bottom portion of the tumbler below the tape, with the Diswhaser Safe Mod Podge. Next you will cover the Diswhaser Safe Mod Podge with a layer of fine Glitter.
Let dry at least four to six hours and repeat two more times, covering the glitter with another coat of Diswhaser Safe Mod Podge and fine Glitter. Be sure to brush off the excess Glitter, with the third sponge brush, before adding the additional layers of Diswhaser Safe Mod Podge and fine Glitter.
Remove the masking/electrical tape (whichever one you use) in between layers of Mod Podge to keep it from messing up the glitter edge, which could happen if you wait to take it off when the Mod Podge is dried..
I used the small plastic cup to pour some of the Diswhaser Safe Mod Podge into for the tumbler so I didn’t contaminate the original bottle of Diswhaser Safe Mod Podge with the the Glitter.
Next, add a top coat of the Diswhaser Safe Mod Podge over the glitter to seal it. Let that dry overnight.
The Final Steps
Measure the area between the glitter and the top and bottom of the tumbler, leaving a little bit of an edge on the top and the bottom so you know how big to cut your design. Cut out your design on your Cricut. Weed the design with the Pin Pen. Place a piece of transfer tape on top of your weeded design and burnish well to transfer the design to the transfer tape.
Before adding your design to the tumbler, remove the electrical tape and wipe the tumbler down with an alcohol wipe to remove any finger prints, excess glitter or debris. Transfer your design to the tumbler, burnish and remove the transfer tape.
The Finished Product
This was so much fun to make.
Here’s another one. It says Liquid Therapy.
So did you find this tutorial helpful in learning how to decorate skinny tumblers with the Cricut and how to apply permanent vinyl to tumblers?
Until next time,
