The holiday season is upon us, and what better way to spread some festive magic than by creating your very own Santa Cam? In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through everything you need to know to craft this fun and whimsical project—perfect for adding a touch of Christmas magic to your home.

What is a Santa Cam?

A Santa Cam is a decorative prop that looks like a miniature surveillance camera, giving kids the impression that Santa is watching to see who’s been naughty or nice. It’s a fun way to enhance holiday excitement and a great DIY project for your seasonal decor.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare Your Ornament

Start by removing the protective film from both sides of the ornament.

2.Creating the 3.5″ Circle in Design Space & Black Strip (For Belt)

Using Shapes in Cricut Design Space, create two 3.5″ circles. Then make each one a different color so they will cut out on two mats (foil cardstock and plain red cardstock). Again, using shapes, create a black strip that is 3.486 in width and 0.444 in height.

3. Assemble The Ornament

Cut the cardstock with your Cricut. Then take a sharp pencil and line up the acrylic ornament on top of the red cardstock circles and trace the hole in the top of the acrylic ornament onto the cardstock cutout.

Using the Crop-A-Dile Multi Hole Punch, punch a hole through the cardstock where you drew the circle for the hole.

Add the red cardstock circles to the front and back of the ornament (the foil cardstock goes on the front) using a sponge brush and liquid adhesive. Then add the black cardstock belt across the center on the front (foil side) of the ornament.

Next, add your white adhesive word “Santa” around the top edge of the ornament leaving the opening for the hole available. Then do the same for the word “Cam” around the bottom edge of the ornament.

Hot glue the lens onto the center of the ornament on top of the black cardstock belt.

Lastly, add the ribbon for the hanger with a bow.

4. Display Your Santa Cam

Hang the finished Santa Cam in a visible spot, like your Christmas tree or a mantle. Let the magic begin!
