Decorating the Makeup Bags With Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)

All four bridal designs, plus the hearts, were cut out on my Cricut Joy. You can cut them on any of the Cricut cutting machines though. I find the Cricut Joy so easy and convenient to use for small projects like this.

I used a Steady Betty as the base for pressing with the EasyPress 2, along with my EasyPress Mat, because my table has grooves in it. You certainly don’t need one if you have a flat surface.

Using the Cricut Heat Guide, I followed the heating and pressing instructions for adhering the HTV to the makeup bags. Because you will be using two different types of HTV (regular HTV (black) and glitter HTV (pink), you will only press the black HTV for a few seconds before adding the glitter HTV.

I find it best to use a pressing pillow on the inside of the makeup bag to keep the seams out of the way. I made my own but I posted a link to some you can buy on Amazon.

After pressing the black HTV for 5-10 seconds, go back to the Cricut Heat Guide and look to see how long you need to press the glitter HTV for and on what temp (it will be different).

Be sure to use the teflon sheet on top of the black HTV once you add the glitter HTV, to keep from overheating it. I actually cover both the black HTV and the glitter HTV with the teflon sheet for the remaining pressing time.
